Campaigning During COVID-19: Get Creative!
Running for office during COVID-19 has challenged the traditional conventions of outreach campaigns. However, that doesn’t mean campaign season isn’t still in full swing. So what are some new and fun ways to reach out to people while social distancing?
Ask supporters to host a Zoom call with their friends to let you talk about your candidacy. Doesn’t matter how many people join the call as long as they can make a difference in your district!
Do a chalk campaign within view or on common walking areas in your district. But keep your distance!
Invest some time in social media. Many people make the mistake of only creating a Facebook page OR a Facebook group when a successful social campaign will learn to use both to build on each other.
Build core campaign leadership and roles. It’s okay to openly ask for help, and to trust people who wholeheartedly support your mission.
